Back To Black (Deluxe Edition) - Amy Winehouse Half-Speed Master 2LP
Half-speed mastering is an elaborate process whereby the source and the turntable on the disc-cutting lathe are run at 16 2/3 R.P.M. The result: a record capable of extremely clean and un-forced high-frequency response with detailed and solid stereo image. These half-speed masters of three classic albums were all cut by Miles Showell, the mastering engineer at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios. Each album is pressed onto 180-gram heavyweight vinyl and includes a download card. A Deluxe Edition 2CD of Back to Black was released in November 2007, containing a bonus disc of B-sides, rare, and live tracks including Valerie, Cupid and Monkey Man. This 10th anniversary 2LP set contains all the tracks from the Deluxe Edition CD, many of which appear on vinyl for the first time. 2006’s modern classic Back to Black showed Amy had grown and stretched herself; she is in a new vocal league, breaking loose with Aretha-style vocal stylings on Just Friends or going gospel on the classic single Rehab. Love is a Losing Game is pure classic modern songwriting: brief, to the point and drenched in emotion. Other highlights include the Nas-inspired Me and Mr. Jones, the beautiful Wake Up Alone and I'm No Good - the personal epiphany that you can behave just as badly as all those guys that have messed you around and stomped all over you.
